It is with a deep sense of joy, gratitude and fulfilment that I share a few reflections from my journey as the Organising Secretary of the National Seminar on the theme “Biodiversity Conservation for Environmental Sustainability in Northeast India: A Multidisciplinary Approach”, held on 31 August and 1 September 2026 at Namrup College.
What began as an academic initiative gradually turned into a collective journey of dedication, teamwork, challenges, learning and beautiful memories. As the Organising Secretary, I had the privilege of witnessing this journey from its initial planning to its successful completion. There were moments of pressure, uncertainty and countless responsibilities, but the unwavering cooperation of everyone involved made every challenge worthwhile.
The response we received was truly overwhelming. Within a relatively short period, we received 78 research papers, of which 74 papers were presented during the technical sessions. The enthusiastic participation of academicians, researchers, scholars and students from different parts of the country made the seminar intellectually vibrant and deeply meaningful.
But behind these numbers lies something much more valuable—the collective effort of an entire team.
My heartfelt appreciation goes to our dynamic faculty members and non-teaching staff, whose constant support, encouragement and guidance gave strength to this initiative. They did not merely help organise the seminar; many of them actively contributed as Resource Persons and academic contributors in their respective areas of expertise. Their commitment reminded me once again that the strength of an institution lies in the people who stand together for a common purpose.
I have immense respect and gratitude for our ever-dedicated staff members who worked tirelessly, often quietly and behind the scenes, to make every arrangement possible—from registration and reception to food and refreshments, venue preparation, publicity and communication, abstract review and acceptance, technical-session coordination and numerous other responsibilities.
Every small contribution mattered. Every helping hand made a difference. And together, those small efforts created something much bigger than any one individual could have achieved.
My deepest gratitude to the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) for extending its valuable support to this academic endeavour. Your support helped us create a platform where researchers, teachers and students could come together to exchange ideas and discuss the pressing concerns surrounding biodiversity, environmental sustainability and the future of Northeast India.

My sincere and heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Durga Prasad Gogoi Sir, Principal, Namrup College, for his constant encouragement, guidance and confidence in us. His support throughout this journey was a source of immense strength.
I am equally thankful to our Co-Convener, Mr. Rupak Kr. Borgohain, whose continuous cooperation, dedication and support made the organisational journey much easier. It was truly a privilege to work together.
And finally, my heartfelt thanks to every participant, presenter, academician, researcher, scholar, student, faculty member, non-teaching staff, volunteer and well-wisher who became a part of this journey.
Looking back, I realise that the success of this seminar cannot be measured merely by the number of papers presented or sessions conducted. Its real success lies in the people we brought together, the ideas we exchanged, the knowledge we shared and the relationships we built.
For me, this has been more than just organising a national seminar. It has been an experience of learning, leadership, friendship, responsibility and collective achievement—an experience that I will cherish for a long time.
As the two-day academic journey comes to an end, I carry with me not only a sense of accomplishment, but also deep gratitude for everyone who stood beside us when it mattered most.
May the ideas and discussions generated through this seminar continue to inspire meaningful research, responsible action and a stronger commitment towards biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability in Northeast India.
